ME114 is a holistic design experience for consumer products. The course project integrates of models of engineering function, environmental impact, manufacturing costs, and market conditions in an optimization framework to maximize profitability and minimize environmental impact for a product that a student team designs. Students are introduced to a variety of topics, including: life-cycle-analysis to capture environmental impact, modeling micro economics, market models, consumer surveying as applied in product design, and consumer product cost modeling. This is a ME Design Capstone Experience option.
